About the Course
This two-day course provides a concise introduction into the characterization and quantitative bioanalysis of peptides and proteins. As such, the course is useful to researchers working in the fields of therapeutic proteins, but also provides useful background information to researchers working with other types of proteins.
As an introductory course, attention is paid to all relevant background aspects, including top-down, middle-up and middle-down, and bottom-up protein characterization, mass spectrometry of both proteins and peptides, and relevant aspects of quantitative bioanalysis, i.e., the analysis of proteins  in (complex) biological matrices, i.e., sample pretreatment, protein digestion, selection of SRM transitions. Relevant workflows in quantitative analysis are outlined and illustrated with application examples.

About The Lecturer

Dr. Wilfried Niessen

Dr. Wilfried Niessen has more than 20 years of experience as a researcher and project manager in the field of liquid chromatography - mass spectrometry. Since 1996, he worked as an independent consultant for his company hyphen MassSpec. Between 2002 and 2014 , he was (part-time) extraordinary professor in bioanalytical mass spectrometry at the Faculty of Science of the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
